Happy June!

It finally feels like summer and we are as busy as ever at our shop. We are currently booking grooming appointments out to the middle of July and beyond. We were not expecting to have such an explosion of new clients and we are working as hard as we can to take care of as many dogs as possible. Nail trimming appointments are also booking out about 5 weeks so if your dog is in need of a nail trim, please call us asap.

This year we will be closing the store during the Olde Canal Days festival that runs between Thursday 6/26 and Saturday 6/28. We will be closed during that full weekend and will reopen on Monday 6/30 for regular business hours. We will also be closed on Friday July 4th in observance of Independence Day. We will be open on Thursday 7/3 and Saturday 7/5 for our normal hours.

With all the summer holidays and storms come some scary sounds for our pets. If your pet is scared of fireworks or thunderstorms it’s always best to give them a nice comfortable safe space to go when they are frightened. Zephyr is one of those dogs and in our experience if we stay close to him he stays the calmest. He is never completely calm because he doesn’t understand why the scary sounds are happening outside and why he can’t go outside. He won’t run, but often times that is a dogs reaction. So be aware of when fireworks or storms are coming and try to be prepared, let your pets out early and keep them inside and safe with you during those most scary moments. Sometimes calming treats can help, but they have to be given before the scary stuff or they may not be active when you need them. We feature Vetriscience Composure treats for both dogs and cats, and several other dog treats designed for calming them down.

We look forward to seeing everybody soon!
