Happy Spring!
We are super busy here at the shop since the weather has broken. People have finally been able to really get out and walk/ run/play with their dogs outside over the past couple of weeks.
We have also noticed that most of the double coated breeds (shedders) have began shedding their winter coats. If your dog is shedding excessively, we recommend giving the dog a bath with a deshedding shampoo along with a heavy dose of brushing over multiple sessions. Brushing your dog a few times a week during the deshedding process will help to get rid of the hair and loosen up the coat in general so that ALL of the winter undercoat can work itself out. After a couple of weeks the dog should slow WAY down with the shedding!
Another option is to call and schedule a deshedding appointment with us. We are currently booking grooming appointments around 2-3 weeks out. We are able to get most of the undercoat out of the dog in one appointment. After a deshedding appointment, the dogs will usually let off a little bit of hair for a few days and then they should be relatively shed free for 4-6 weeks!
Lastly, our family is heartbroken to announce the passing of Phineas, our 17 year old Shih Tsu/Poodle mix. He was our little best friend and had been coming to work at the shop since the moment we opened. He will be missed more than words can convey.
We hope to see you soon!
