Happy October!
Fleas and Ticks are starting to become more active again as we move into the fall. Please make sure that you are inspecting your dogs and cats thoroughly whenever they come inside from outdoor activities. Especially if they have gone through any tall grasses, weeds, or forest areas.
If you do find fleas or a tick, make sure to treat all animals in your house with preventative medicines so that an infestation has no chance to take hold. Remove ticks asap with a tick removal tool or hemostats. If you are unsure about tick removal, give us a call and we can either walk you through the removal process or we will have you bring your pet in so that we can remove the pest for you.
We are also in the thick of shedding season for dogs that have double coats (huskies, shepherds, Bernese mountain dogs). Please make sure to brush those types of dogs regularly to make sure that the undercoat is being removed. Coat impaction and mats can form pretty easily during shedding seasons if we are not keeping up on our brushing. If you need help with deshedding your dog, give us a call asap and we will schedule an appointment for you.
We hope to see everyone soon!
