Happy May!

At Barkly & Meows, we are always happy to see this time of year roll around. The weather is better, everyone is outside more, and pets are loving the extra walks, yard time, and sunshine.

Of course, May also means flea and tick season is here. This is the time of year when prevention really matters. Even if your dog mostly sticks to the yard or neighborhood, fleas and ticks can still find their way onto your pet. Once they do, they can become a much bigger headache than most people expect.

It is a good idea to check your pet regularly after being outside, especially if they have been in grass, wooded areas, or around other animals. Watch for extra scratching, chewing, licking, or irritated skin, and do not forget that a well-groomed coat makes it much easier to spot problems early.

Regular grooming can be a big help this time of year. It keeps the coat cleaner, helps remove loose hair and packed undercoat, and makes it easier to notice skin issues, hot spots, or unwanted pests.

A few May reminders:

  • Keep up with flea and tick prevention
  • Check your pet after outdoor time
  • Stay ahead of matting and shedding
  • Book grooming before the Summer rush really kicks in

We are here if your pet needs a spring refresh, a good brush-out, or just a little help getting ready for the warmer months ahead.

Thanks for supporting Barkly & Meows!
